 Applies To
 Product:STAAD.Pro
First Affected Version:
 Found in Version:20.07.11.33
Released in Version:20.07.11.45
Environment:All
 Area: Modeling
Subarea:AISC_14.1
 Issue #:257492

Problem Description

It has been noted that the AISC 14.1 section profile database that is delivered with STAAD.Pro V8i SS6 (20.07.11.33) has a couple of issues :-

1) Models that include standard or extra strong pipe sections. These had been assigned incorrect STAAD names and thus a standard profile would be assigned a extra strong property and an extra strong profile would be assigned the standard property.

2) The first few profiles listed in the wide flange 'W Shape' table are new heavy sections and added to the database with a space in the STAAD name which when assigned to a model would cause the analysis engine to crash.

.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open STAAD.Pro.
  2. Open Configuration – Section Profile Table. Choose AISC_14.1 section database for AISC.
  3. Now open any model.
  4. Go to section database.
  5. Open AISC W sections.
  6. Try to assign any of the first 10 W sections to any member.
  7. Open the input editor.
  8. Edit it, save it and try to close the editor.
  9. Program gives error message.

.

Workaround

A corrected version of the database can be downloaded from here
