Problem Description:
I have installed STAAD.Pro in a machine and it will not open the STAAD editor. When I click on the icon, it runs, I see the hour glass, but no window appears.
Solution:
Run SProEdit.exe from Windows Explorer (..\SProV8i SS5\STAAD), if it fails to run, please uninstall the program and reinstall it with full administrative privileges. In Windows 7/8, right click on the installation file and select the option 'Run as administrator', though you are logged in as the administrator.
If it runs fine from Windows explorer and displays the editor window, it could be that the antivirus program is failing the editor to run from STAAD.Pro. In the past we have cases where Kaspersky antivirus program detects STAAD executables as potential threat to the machine and blocks them.
Ask your IT administrator to add all the STAAD executable files in the safe application list.
