AutoPIPE V8i 09.02.xx.xx Installation and Setup [TN]

Log onto the Bentley Web Site

Open internet explorer web site http://selectservices.bentley.com/en-US/

  1. Select “Software Downloads”

  2. Log into web site.
    If you do not have a current log, in please contact your local Bentley site administrator who can assist you with the correct information and permissions.

Download AutoPIPE 9.2

  1. In the “Search By:” area, Select radio button next to “Product”, and select “Bentley AutoPIPE” from drop down list
  2. In the “Filter By” area, “Files Posted within last”, change from “6 months” to “ALL”.
  3. Press the “Search” button at the bottom of the web site
  4. Select the correct version of AutoPIPE to download.
    Current major version release is Bentley AutoPIPE V8i Athens, Edition 09.02.03.02.
    Place a check in the box next to the name and confirm that any dependencies have also been selected (Bentley IEG).

    Note:Far right column notifies you of the OS for which the application is certified on. Installing the application on any other OS will be at your own risk and will not be supported.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the web page, press “Continue” button located in the bottom right corner.
  6. Select Delivery method, Default Download, you can chose Download or Burn CD (an official CD will be mailed).
    Press “Continue” button
  7. Download procedure
    Read the Legal Terms of Use statement. If you agree, press the “Accept” button. Then press the “Advanced Download Manager” button. Provide pathname to download the file to and finally press the “Start Download” button.
  8. Burn CD Procedure
    Select the “Continue” button, provide shipping information, and press the “Complete” button.

Other applications required to complete an installation:

  1. Select Server V8 XM
  2. Bentley IEG (Required for XM applications only)

Download Bentley IEG

Using the procedure above, would have downloaded this application. Regardless, please see the following procedure to download IEG separately. Use the instructions above, log into the Bentley web site and navigate to the Support Download web page.

  1. In the “Search By:” area, Select radio button next to “Product”, and select “IEG Product” from drop down list
  2. In the "Filter By:" section, change "Files Posted within last" from “6 months” to "ALL"
  3. Press the “Search” button at the bottom of the web site
  4. Select the correct version of Bentley IEG License Service to download. Current version is Bentley IEG License Service 02.00.16.00, released 6/19/2009.
    Place a check in the box next to the name and confirm that any dependencies have also been selected.

Download AutoPIPE Updates

AutoPIPE updates are created as needed. Notification of these updates are included in a Bentley Press release or Newsletter which is sent to those who have signed up to receive Select Newstream for Plant products.

To subscribe / unsubscribe to Newstreams

  1. Visit https://login.bentley.com/personalinfo/index.cfm
  2. Log onto the web site.
  3. Click on “Tell us more about you”, link near the bottom of the page.
  4. Select the “Newsletters” Tab at the top of the page
  5. Place a check in the box next to “NewsStream for Plant”, “NewsStream for Building” and “Press Releases”
  6. Press “Submit” button.
    Otherwise, it is the end users responsibility to periodically check the following location for product updates

Use the instructions above to log on the Bentley web site and navigate to the Support Download web page.

  2. In the Filter By section, change “Download Category” to “Enhancements and Updates”, and “Files Posted within last” to “ALL”
  3. Press the “Search” button at the bottom of the web site
  4. Place a check in the box next to the name and confirm that any dependencies have also been selected.
  5. Press “Continue” button
  6. Select Delivery method, Default Download, you can chose Down load or Burn CD (an official CD will be mailed).
    Press “Continue” button
  7. Download Procedure

Install AutoPIPE V8i 9.2.x.x

Note: For those installing the application on Win 7 please see item #4 in this section below before continuing

This procedure assumes that Select Server XM has been install and configured, If not please contact the license group to assist you.

  1. Must log onto user’s computer with full Administration rights.
  2. Install AutoPIPE V8i while accepting all the default settings.
    1. Prefer that the application is not installed over a network connection; suggest that the EXE file is on the users system before starting the installation.
    2. If you have already installed AutoPIPE V8i, using add/remove programs uninstall:
      • all previous versions of AutoPIPE
      • PCF to NTL translator
      • ADLPipe to NTL translator
      • Bentley STRAIT
    3. Navigate to the EXE file download using the procedure above.
    4. Double click on it to start the installation process.
    5. Finished, with AutoPIPE install, continue with next section before starting the application.
  3. See the following if installing on Windows 7, otherwise continue to next section:
    Windows 7 has some features and settings that may need to be adjusted in order to install / use AutoPIPE V8i correctly. Please see the following one or more suggestions.
    1. Platforms supported: Windows 7 Professional or higher (application will not function correctly on other version of windows)
    2. Install to the default locations (do not select a different installation drive location, known issue to crash the installer)
    3. Modify Setup Properties: Compatibility mode.
      • Download AutoPIPE V8i to your local computer hard drive.
      • Log on with admin privileges.
      • Go to this folder, it contains extracted setup files:
        C:\BentleyDownloads\ap09020107en\09020107en\product\install
      • Right click on Setup.exe and select ‘Properties’
      • In the compatibility tab. Select the option ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows XP SP2 as shown below. Click OK to close this dialog.
      • Try to install the application using all the default settings
    4. Modify Setup Properties: Run program as Admin
      • First try Step #3 above, if does not work, open the same dialog above, and also check on “Run this program as an administrator”.
      • Try the installation process again.
    5. Error occurs when installing: Unhandled Exception Error number 0x80040707
      If you're getting this error message as part of an installation or upgrade routine, here's one of the easiest ways to circumvent the problem:
      • Go to the directory that holds the file for launching the installation (for example, Setup.exe).
      • Right-click on the installation file and select “Run As”.
      • Uncheck the box that says “Protect My Computer And Data From Unauthorized Activity”, and click OK button.
      • Alternatively, if you're running this installation from a CD, you may need to simply clean the CD and try the installation again.
      • Another possibility for resolving this error is to run Windows Update on the system before running the installation routine.

    6. Turn off DATA execution
      • Turn off data execution protection before installation of AutoPIPE
      • Right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Then click on the Advanced tab, Performance, and then Settings.
    7. Inspect background processes
      Some applications that are running in the background may cause problems when trying to install the application. Verify the following types are turned offduring the installation process:
      • File Management software
      • Virus protection software

If you are still having installation problems on Win 7 after trying all the above suggestions, please send your computer’s information.

Start> Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Information. After the program has been opened, select File> Save> save file and send me a copy of systemname.NFO file for inspection.

Also, perform the following: start DOS command, c:\> Dir /s /o /ogne>systemname.txt, send me a copy of the systemname.txt for review. This file may be large and can be shrunk by adding it to a ZIP file.

Install AutoPIPE updates

If updates were available, install AutoPIPE updates using the procedure located in the update files. Please continue with next section before starting the application.

Install Bentley IEG

(This is a separate install and is required).

IEG must be installed by user with Admin privileges and cannot be pushed over a network connection. Please confirm you are logged on as an admin user, do not assume.

  1. Un-install any previously installed version of Bentley IEG License Service from Control Panels 'Add or Remove Programs'
  2. Select “Start” , “Run”, “Browse”; open the folder where you downloaded the application too or insert the CD and run “iegls02001100en.exe” to start the installation process.
  3. Verify that the application installed, Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Bentley IEG should be listed.
  4. If was not installed, means that the application was only unzipped to the computer system; to complete the installation goto C:\BentleyDownloads\iegls02001600en and run the Setup application.
  5. After installation, the computer should be rebooted.

Set-up License

  1. Open License Management Tool by using oneof the following methods:
    1. Start AutoPIPE, select AutoPIPE Demo button, Select Tools> Settings> License Management Tool.
    2. Open windows run utility, Start> Run> type “licensetool” and press OK button.
    3. Search your entire hard drive for “ Licensetool.exe”, should be located under one of the following:
      • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\IEG\IEGLCS
      • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Bentley Shared\Plant V8i\Licensing
      • C:\Program Files\Bentley\SELECTServer.
  2. Verify AutoPIPE, AutoPIPE PLUS, and/or AutoPIPE Nuclear are listed and 1 license is available for check out.

    If not, verify the Server Name and Site Activation Key, Tools> Options> press the test connection button. Contact Bentley Licensing group if there is a problem, see bottom of document.
  3. Start AutoPIPE.
  4. Depending on your licenses available in the above section(Step #2), select the applicable AutoPIPE license using:
    Select Tools> Settings> Edition> select one radio button in front of: AutoPIPE Standard, AutoPIPE PLUS, or AutoPIPE Nuclear.
    If your license contract has the add features, KHK2 or Stress ISO, and wish to add that feature, you can also select those radio buttons in addition to the AutoPIPE version radio button.

    After pressing OK button, the application will look at your License Management Tool, check available license for the product selected, if available, check out the license, reducing the available pool licenses by 1, and the application will be ready for you to use. To verify the application has a valid license, the top application bar will have one of the following:

    HOWEVER, if a valid license was not found available, the application will revert to DEMO mode, as indicated by:
  5. If revert to demo,
    1. Verify AutoPIPE version selected above matches the license available in Tools> Settings> License Management Tools> Product list.
    2. Verify license is available, Tools> Settings> License Management Tools> available column next to product selected
    3. Verify the internet connection and server connection.
    4. Verify Select Server XM Dashboard Settings (i.e. Application restrictions, user restrictions, etc...) http://selectserver.bentley.com/bss/admin/

Contact Bentley License Team

If your application is not licensed correctly due to License Management Tool issues, please contact the Bentley License department to verify your account status.

Troubleshooting:

1. Can see thru the desktop:

Fix: Please try the following suggestions (#3 fixes most occurrences):

  1. Does the computer meet the minimum requirements? See help> Contents> Bentley AutoPIPE> Getting Started> Installation and Authorization> Installation> System requirements
  2. Change hardware acceleration inside AutoPIPE, View> Setting> Uncheck Enable hardware acceleration.
  3. Change computer display properties: Control Panel> Display> Settings tab> Advanced button> Troubleshoot Tab> select hardware acceleration = none.
  4. Control Panel/Display/Appearance/ Effects, "Use transition effects for menus and tooltips" should be unchecked
  5. Update computer’s OPENGL display drivers.
  6. Disable virus protection or document management applications, and then try to run the program. Some software are reporting high CPU usage on PCs running windows.

 2. Application Crashes on start-up

  1. Uninstall Bentley IEG and Bentley AutoPIPE from the system, reboot the system, reinstall previous applications, and start program
  2. When you receive the following message:

“AutoPIPE application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

The error also indicates that further details about the error can be obtained by clicking a link. Clicking the link displays an error report that lists atioglx.dll as the offending library. This library is used by ATI graphics card.

Solution: Upgrading the graphics driver or reducing the graphics card hardware acceleration.

If running Windows XP: Control Panel> Display> Settings tab> Advanced button> Troubleshoot Tab> select hardware acceleration = none.
