Problem

When trying to run the ISM Revit plugin version 11.01.00.07 within Revit 2020, it instantly crashes Revit followed by an Autodesk Error Report (External Tools Failure... System.IO.FileNotFoundException). The add-in may work as intended in previous versions of Revit. The crash occurs with any ISM Action or trying to access the ISM Revit plugin settings.

Solution

We have seen a few cases of this with Revit 2020, though it does not affect all machines. With ISM Revit Plugin 11.02.01.04 the issue can also affect Revit 2021 and is more common. We believe the issue is related to Structural Property Catalog dependency and MS Windows Strong Name requirements. If so, our next build will resolve the problem.

Meanwhile, in some cases the following steps will fix it:

• Uninstall any and all version of the ISM Revit plugin
• Reinstall only version (11.01.00.07) and only for Revit 2020.

A Reboot may be required.

If the problem persists, then the developers will want to see the Synchronizer and ISM Revit logs. File a service request or post to our forum with the log files.
