The following new and updated features have been added to since V8i (SELECTseries 2):

General Program Features

  • Selfweight of components and ice on components (when ice load is considered) is now considered. You may assign a load factor, to be applied to wind-only loads. A new weight of ice load group is created for using the ice selfweight.
  • The Tower Model Navigator tree has been reorganized for component objects. Now, all components are listed as sub-entries to their attaching mounts. This folder structure is organized to reflect the physical attachments of an actual tower model.
  • The organization of the Tower Model Navigator has also been updated to reflect the member usage within the structure for a wider variety of member types, including various redundant member types. View pane filters are included on the View ribbon tab to control the display of members by type, as well.
  • A wider variety of mounts as discrete appurtenances are now available for all communication structures, such as: T-Arms, T-Frames, Sector Frames, Side Arms, and Ice Shields. The Low-Profile platform and pipe mounts are also still available and have also been enhanced.
  • A wide variety of antennas as discrete appurtenances can now be placed on various supporting mounts. These appurtenances include: Dipole, Dish, Omni, Panel, and Yagi antennas where dish antennas may be grid, HP dish, Parabola with or with radome, or Para Reflector. Panel antennas from both RFS and Swedcom catalogs are included for selection. Custom antenna sizes and weights can be included.

Self-Supporting towers

  • Self-supporting towers are now defined by Sections, as to be consistent with common terminology and with other tower types.

Sections are a super-set of individual panels. The number of sections as well as no of bays per section are defined in the updated Self-Supporting Tower Wizard as well as in the Tower Information Properties panel.

Section properties can be used to vary the properties of all sub-components within a section. Similarly, a new Sections table has been added to quickly review and edit the tower structure by section.

  • The Self-Supporting Tower Wizard has also been enhanced to allow you to specify the design code and member profiles for general section types in the wizard.

Member sections may be filtered by specification and shape (class) in the Self-Supporting Tower Wizard.

  • Member sections can be edited in the Sections table as well as in the Section Properties panel.
  • Hip bracing members can now be added using the Add Hip Member tool found on the Tools ribbon tab.
  • T-Frame and Sector Frame components have been added for Self-Supporting Towers.
  • Reports for self-supporting towers have been completely updated for both standards, provided concise reports which are easier to manage.

Monopoles

  • Feedlines can now be added inside of monopole towers.
  • With the addition of all API sections to the Structure Property Catalog, you can now specify pipe sizes up to 48 in. in diameter and Alpha pipe up to 144 in. in diameter.
