Issue #: | 1041031 |
Problem Description
There was no file database conversion required between version 16.00.00.28 and 16.01.00.20 (which is atypical for RAM Structural System versions). A consequence of this is that if a model is saved in version 16.01, then opened in version 16.00 it will appear fine, but saving changes to the file in v16.00 will corrupt the file.
The model status lights will all appear light blue like a new file and the internal ram file has nothing but zero values in it, etc. Only the model thumbnail still works (because it is a separate file and not version specific).
Reason
We will fix the issue for version 17, but there is no way to retroactively prevent this problem on machines still using 16.00.00.28.
Solution
Install version 16.01.0.20 on all machines.
Since the corruption happens upon save, the backup is also likely deleted, unless the corruption is identified after saving only once. For files that are already corrupted, locate the .backup file and rename it with the .rss extension. Then try to open that file on version 16.01.00.20 only. If it has any data in it proceed. Otherwise the file cannot be restored.
