 Product(s):RAM Concept
 Version(s):V8i edition - present
 Environment: N/A
 Area: Graphics
 Issue Number:496702

Problem Description

The graphics don't look right. This can include lines shooting off into space or graphics that are totally invisible.

Explanation

Ram Concept uses DirectX for graphics. so first verify that your graphics adapter supports this technology. More often than not, updating the graphics adapter driver is the solution to graphics problems in Ram Concept. Here's an example of what you might see with an out of date driver:

There could be extra blue lines like a spider-web connecting the edges of the slab or problems with line weight.

This has been known to happen with some nVidia legacy and game cards in particular. nVidia is stopping Directx 10 support for many of its legacy cards, this includes many Quadro and NVS cards.

Solution

Reverting to older drivers (v332.76 or v331) has solved the problem in most cases. Click here to search older drivers.

nVidia regretfully does not provide these older drivers on Windows 10 operating systems. As a work around, the following environment variables can be set:

  • QV_SWRASTERIZER=1
  • QV_D3DVERSION=9

These environment variables will work with Ram Concept 6.00, but not with Ram Concept 6.01.

In Ram Concept 6.02 a new feature was added to work around the problem. In that version using Help - User Settings and reduce the Graphics Acceleration if you experience any problem with graphics quality.
