There are three (3) types of CIS/2 models: Manufacturing, Design, Analysis. Structural Modeler only imports two of them: Manufacturing and Design.
How to determine what type of CIS/2 model is contained within a given CIS/2 or Step file.
A CIS/2 or Step file is a simple ASCII or Text file and can be viewed and edited in a text editor such as notepad.
- The analysis model will contain ELEMENT entities.
- The manufacturing will contain LOCATED_PART entities.
- The design model will contain these DESIGN_PART entities
Neither SM nor PSM will import a pure analytical model, but, will import a Manuacturing or Design Model that also contains an Analytical Model.
