 Applies To
 Product:Ram Concept
First Affected Version:6.04.00.06
 Found in Version:6.04.00.06
Released in Version:-
Environment:Windows 7 x64; Windows 10
 Area: File; Installation
 Issue #:796452

Problem Description

In Ram Concept version 06.04.00.006 x64, on certain Dell PCs typically running Windows 7 x64, an error, "Concept for Windows has stopped working," can occur when attempting to open a file using the File - Open menu or folder icon. A similar error can occur when trying to save a file that is opened through a browser or direct link.

On other machines running Windows 10, the error occurs as soon as the program is started and indicates "Program Error (Unknown Exception: in program startup) Contact Support"

Reason

As described in this thread, Dell’s Backup and Recovery software, version 1.8.1.71, will crash any 64-bit Qt5 application whenever a file dialog is opened, and in some cases causes the program to crash on startup.

Solution

Upgrading DBaR to version 1.9.2.8 or later should fix the issue. Alternatively, if it's not being used, Dell's Backup and Recovery system can be uninstalled.
