I have used the command PERFORM DIRECT ANALYSIS ASD. When doing the steel design as per AISC UNFIED code, do I still need to specify the design parameter METHOD as ASD ?
That is correct. Specifying the ASD within the analysis command ensures that the software follows the rules outlined by AISC for an ASD type analysis, like factoring the input loads by 1.6 and dividing results by 1.6. However for the design to be carried out as per the ASD method, you would still need to specify the METHOD as ASD as otherwise the software would design as per the default design method, which is LRFD.
