In December 2015, Bentley's Structural Analysis and Design group presented the Structural Year in Review webinar. Questions were asked by the audience following the webinar. This is a recap of the questions that were answered as well as elaborations on questions that required more detailed responses.
Does Structural Navigator have Android or Microsoft App?
Structural Navigator is presently available on iPad but an Android-based version is under development.
Where can we find a copy of that graphic depicting all Bentley products across the map of infrastructure/construction projects?
This graphic is shown on pages 16 and 17 of the Bentley Systems 2014 annual report, available at:
http://ftp2.bentley.com/dist/collateral/docs/corporate/2014_Bentley_AnnualReport.pdf
The applications with the CONNECT version - are they 64x?
There are both x64 and x86 applications within the structural CONNECT Edition releases. Some products are still x86 while others are available in both x64 and x86.
The Structural Navigation app - is that available for Windows?
There is a desktop version available for Windows and an iOS version for iPad.
When STAAD(X) will be available?
STAAD(X) continues to be developed and we are working with a small group of users to refine some things. Next year we will have a Technology Preview before its release.
Minimum Hardware/RAM recommended?
The following requirements are suggested minimums. Systems with increased capacity provide enhanced performance.
- PC with Intel-Pentium or equivalent.
- Graphics card and monitor with 1280x1024 resolution, 256 color display (16 bit high color recommended).
- System memory: Minimum of 1 GB is required and suitable for small to medium problems. However, for large, complex problems up to 8 GB may be needed.
- Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system.
Windows XP, Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Microsoft® Vista are no longer supported.
- Sufficient free space on the hard disk to hold the program and data files. The disk space requirement will vary depending on the modules you are installing. A typical minimum is 500MB free space.
- A multimedia ready system with sound card and speakers is needed to run the tutorial movies and slide shows.
Additional RAM, disk space, and video memory will generally enhance the performance.
What is the cost comparison of the new subscription based STAAD software vs. the old "a la carte" license based software?
Product licenses can be procured either through a perpetual license or by use of our open access or basic access programs, in which a quarterly fee is applied for licenses used above or beyond what perpetual licenses cover. For SELECT Open Access subscribers, the quarterly fee is 14% of the perpetual license cost. For SELECT Basic Access subscribers, the quarterly fee is 16% of the perpetual license cost. More information on Quarterly Term License is available at:

We're interested in the connectivity with REVIT. Can you please comment on that and guide us to resources?
RAM, STAAD.Pro, STAAD Foundation Advanced, and Microstran are all interoperable with Revit. Each of these applications interoperates bi-directionally with Revit using the ISM-Revit plugin. More information on the ISM-Revit plugin is available at the link below:
Do you have a coming webinar for STAAD(X)?
Yes, there is a STAAD(X) webinar scheduled for 2016.
Will there be a link given later to watch this again?
Yes, all attendees will be sent information on accessing an archive of the webinar.
