Error or Warning Message
The following message appears in a black DOS window when attempting to run an analysis in RAM Frame:
OMP: Warning #72: KMP_Affinity: affinity only supported for Intel processors.
OMP: Warning #71: KMP_Affinity: affinity not supported, using "disabled"
Explanation
The direct sparse solvers used by RAM Structural System and RAM Elements utilize multiprocessing libraries provided by Intel. The libraries function properly with Intel processors but not with AMD processors.
TR 3581 has been filed with the RAM Structural System development team.
How to Avoid
Use one of the direct solvers instead of the direct sparse solvers.
To change the solver used in an existing model:
- Open RAM Frame.
- Select General... from the Criteria menu.
- Locate the Solver Type section in the lower right, and choose one of the Direct Solver options. The In-Core option is recommended for best performance. Please refer to the screenshot below.
To change the solver for new models:
- Go to RAM Manager.
- Select RAM Defaults Utility... from the Tools menu.
- Navigate to RAM Frame -> Analysis -> General Criteria.
- Locate the Solver Type section in the lower right, and choose one of the Direct Solver options. The In-Core option is recommended for best performance. Please refer to the screenshot below.
